"Where the heart lies, let the brain lie also."
--Robert Browning
As future teachers, we have learned that the education of our students is much more than reading, writing and math. We know that in order to be successful, we need to know our students and educate them to the best of our abilities in a wide variety of subjects in order to prepare them for their lives ahead of them. Part of a child's education includes his or her emotional education. There has been much research conducted about emotional literacy. The focus of this site is emotional literacy in regards to children and the adults in their lives, primarily their teachers. This website provides a working definition of emotional literacy for teachers. It includes rationale behind teaching emotional literacy, as well as the theory and practice of teaching emotional literacy to children.
